On Sunday, Uunchai collected Rs. 3.65 crores, up from Rs. 1.81 crores on Friday.
Early estimates show that Uunchai’s third day sales jumped more than 35 percent, paving the way for healthy weekday sales.
As of Friday, the movie has collected a total of Rs. 10.50 crore, the third day collection being in the range of Rs. 4.90 to 5.20 crore.
Amitabh Bachchan’s film has the highest three-day total for a post-pandemic release, and a large part of this is due to the brand value of Sooraj Barjatya.
Over the weekend, Uunchai performed well on a limited number of screens (under 500).
In some regions of the country, there was not enough supply of shows to meet Saturday and Sunday’s demand. Therefore, the weekend numbers would have been higher by at least 25 to 30 percent.
The trend so far is superlative and now we need to see if Uunchai can record a Monday that’s higher than Friday.
Considering the recent struggles of the Hindi film industry, the weekend collections are welcome.
